Did You Know?
In Japanese, there is not a single word for "brother" or for "sister". Instead, there are one words for "elder brother," "younger brother," "elder sister," and "younger sister." So if we were to translate "I met Jane's sister, Christine," we would have to ask who is older.
Did You Know?
There are some words, on the other hand, that can be expressed by a single word in Japanese, but not in English. One such word is "katakori," which means stiff shoulders and neck.
